Provincial Nomination Meeting Set For March 14, 2022

The Guelph New Democratic Party Electoral District Association (EDA) will hold its Provincial Nomination Meeting on Monday, March 14, 2022, at 7:00 p.m. James Parr will be acclaimed as the NDP’s provincial candidate for Guelph. 

The meeting will take place over Zoom meetings. Attendance is open to all members and supporters of the Guelph NDP, as well as non-members who wish to attend. 

Andrea Horwath, Leader of Ontario’s Official Opposition, and James Gordon, Guelph City Councillor for Ward 2, will attend as guest speakers.

Andrea Horwath has been a Member of Provincial Parliament since 2004 and Leader of Ontario’s New Democrats since 2009. She has delivered results in two Ontario budgets: 5,000 new childcare spaces, paying down the deficit quicker, pushing for a Financial Accountability Office, and 30,000 new youth jobs. From her early career in community development to today, Andrea has worked to ensure that everyone in Ontario has the opportunity to build a good life.

James Gordon is a two-term City Councillor for Ward 2 in Guelph, as well as a lifelong activist and singer-songwriter well known for his songs about social justice, heritage and environmental issues. He ran as the candidate for the Ontario New Democratic Party in Guelph in 2011 and 2014. James is also a co-founder of Guelph's annual Hillside Festival and was its first creative director.
